Removing husband from car loan

I have a joint car loan with my husband, he's not responisble and I want to either take my name off of the loan or take his off, how can I do that?

You can sell the car, trade it in or try to refinace through a credit union.

You can't just take someone's name off of a loan. Your husband is a co-borrower and he agreed to be equally responsible. You have 3 basic choices: (1) sell the vehicle to pay off the loan (trade-in or private sale); (2) refinance the loan in your name only (or his); and (3) get written consent or loan modification from the current lender that the borrower to be removed is no longer responsible for the loan.
