Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California
Renewed judgement
I have a judgement against me, that was originaly entered in 1994, and then it was renewed in 2004, the amount of the judgement was around $8000, I have no idea how much it is now with the interest. Would it be possible to make a deal with the collection place to pay a lesser amount, without all the interest? perhaps set up a payment plan? I would like to buy a house in the future, and I dont want any type of lein put on it, so far they havent tried to garnish my wages, or anything, and would I need to have a attorney do this for me, or do you think I would be able to handle it myself? thanks

Re: Renewed judgement
It is possible to make a deal with them, but not probable at this point. You have waited too long. You may want to take out a loan to pay them off and then pay off the loan timely.
