Repossion of Auto

If I have an auto titled and registered as me a or friend, and the friend has possesion of the car, can I legally take possession of the car, sell the car in order to pay off the loan that the friend has stopped making payments on and has gone to collection? If so, what steps do I need to take?

If the car is titled as "or" you could take it and sell it. You would have to pay off the loan and then split the proceeds.
