Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

I need to request an extension to file a response to these 3 documents:

1 Plaintiffs 1st set of interrogatories to defendant

2 Plaintiffs 1st set of request for inspection and production of documents

3 Request for admissions.

Unfortunately my 30 days already expired because I was out of town for a few weeks and didnt get the notice on time. Can I still request an extension? How do I do that? Who needs to be notified and what do I use as proof that I have requested the extension? And do I need to explain why I missed my deadline?

You should call the opposing counsel and request an extension. A 30 day extension is usuall provided as a courtesy.

Good luck!

I would add that if they grant you the extension you then cofirm it with them in writing via email or fax.

Having already missed the deadline, all the requests for admissions are deemed admitted. If I were the opposing counsel, I would not grant an extension after the time has run out on requests for admissions. You are going to have to ask the court to relieve you of your admissions and for time to respond to the other discovery. You need a lawyer at this point.
