Requesting valadation of debt

What leagel right does a collection agency have to collect a debt from me if my credit card company has already disscharged my debt.I have requested valadation from a collection a agency and they refuse to mail it but they will fax it. If they refuse to mail my correct information do they really have a case against me.

If the debt is discharged and you no longer owe it, then it cannot be collected. Often collection companies are working off old lists. They should give you their proof that you owe the debt and if by fax or mail, there should be no distinction.
