Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

returned check

I had cashed a check from an employer who had insufficient funds in his bank account. Now, a law office representing the supermarket where I cashed the check, is requesting payment from me. Is that allowed by law?

They can come back to you. It would be up to you to go to your employer and make sure they pay you plus any costs associated with it.
