Rights Regarding Auto Reposetion

My car was repossed and I was given no warning. No phone calls .Also they never reported to the police, I reported it stolen. Then found out more that 24 hours after it was picked up that it was repossed. Also the recovery compnay has not returned calls as I need my personal effects. Is the way they are handling this legal?

Your personal effects are gone, along with your car. If you were one day late paying, it was legal. Except for the theft of your personal property, but that's your word against theirs.
