served for a lien

I received a summons to appear in court for a debt i incurred over 2 years ago, if i don't go can they garnish my wages? I have been considering filing bk should i do it before i go to court?

If you do not answer the complaint, the other side may receive a default judgment and then pursue (among other options) wage garnishment.

I do not recommend ignoring this.

If you do not show up for court they will get a judgment. Once they have a judgment they can garnish your wages. If you do file BK then your BK atty will notify teh court and the hearing / trial will be cancelled. Once you file BK ALL collection efforts MUST cease.
