what happens when you get served a subpoena and there are other people on the subpoena? do i have to pay it?

I think you may have confused the terminology. A supboena is generally used to compel a witness attend a deposition or testify as a witness at a trial or hearing. Sometimes they are used to make someone produce documents for inspection and copying. The witness is usually entitled to a fee for mileage and shouldn't have to pay anything.
If you are being sued for money, then I recommend posting a new question about the allegations of the lawsuit and you might be more help that way.
