Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

I was served with a summons in regards to a credit card bill. It says I must respond with a form, not a phone call or letter. What form do I use to respond to a summons?

You must file an answer, demurrer, and/or motion to strike. Form answers may be found on the Judicial Council website. Don't forget to include affirmative defenses including, if applicable, statute of limitations. You must have a friend mail a copy to plaintiff's attorney.

There are a number of potential responses to a summons depending on what your objectives are, the allegations in the complaint, the form of the complaint, the alleged manner of service, and what court you are in (state or federal), etc.

The most basic form is called an Answer, like the one found here. I can't say without more facts whether that is the best response to make.
