Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California
After being served with a summons for a credit card debt, I now have received a notice of case management conference. It says I must file a Case Management Statement. I have downloaded one, but I have no idea how to fill it out. It's asking questions that I don't know if I'm supposed to answer or not. I have turned all my credit cards over to a debt settlement company, so I don't know what I'm supposed to do, I sure can't pay them, and I don't have any extra to make payments to them. Plus, I have a homestead on my house, I was under the impression that that protects it from liens, is that correct?

You Are A Dummy for using a "debt settlement company." They are taking your money and in the meantime your creditors are suing you. Homesteading your house doesn't protect it from judgment liens -- once a lien is filed even filing for BK (something you very probably should have done already) won't affect it. By the way, where do you get these impressions that you're under?
Mr. Stone is correct. You need to find a bankruptcy attorney right away.
