Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

I was served a summons to pay a credit card debt and that was two weeks ago. They have the CC# from the account and it is correct. It is approx $3100. Is it possible to set up something with Citibank so that I can make payments to them? There are a billion forms in the summons and I have no idea what any of them mean. There is a Stipulation to Participate in Alternative Dispute Resolution, and ADR Case Referral Intake, Case Management Statement, and a Declaration of Mailing. How do I respond? I am so confused. Thanks in advance!

You can make an arrangements to settle the case. You can stipulate to mediating it instead of litigating. The declaration of mailing is that is was proof it was served. File an answer or contact an attorney.

You need to answer the complaint within 30 days of being served in order to prevent a default judgment. You can settle with a creditor often times for 50% or less. At least this has been my experience representing clients who have been served. They will allow you to make payments on a payment plan.
