Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

I setteled a debt with a so call law firm (debt collector) . I made my first payment on june 5th and the 2nd on july 5th. on july 13th they filed a suit and are telling me i have to pay court fees to keep this out of court, they want me to mail it to them, is this rigt?

It's possible that you might have restarted a statute of limitation that had run by agreeing to and making payment.

If the agreement was in writing, even by letter, what they did might have violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. You might have an attorney contact them to raise the roof!
