Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

I want to settle!

I am currently be sued by a previous employer over a sum of money that I owe them. I am willing to pay them the money and really do not want this to go to court. How do I handle this? Do I go through the lawyer for the company?

Re: I want to settle!

There is nothing legally requiring you to go through the attorney, but I know I never appreciate it when someone attempts to do an end run bye contacting my client directly. The attorney usually needs to work out the settlement details anyway, so I would call and discuss your proposal. If there is agreement, make sure you get it in writing so they don't take a default judgment against you.
