Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

I signed up for one of those "online services" that had an "opt out" clause and then mothly charges if you didn't opt out. Well, I did opt out, within the 10 day window. But they continued to charge me and the money came out of my account to the tune of a few thousand dollars. I realize how stupid it was NOT to monitor my bank account daily, and I have learned a lesson from this. My question is...since I abided by their rules and cancelled and they STILL took my money, HOW do I get it back? Should I sue? file a report with the authorities? I already went to my bank and closed the account to start, but I live in a fixed income. Please let me know my options. THANK YOU in advance.

This might be a case in which an experienced class action attorney might be interested, since you might not be the only person to whom this company has done this. Also, you might contact the California Attorney General's consumer affairs division and register a complaint. Finally, depending on how much money was involved, you might be able to recover your funds through a small claims action.
