Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

Small Claims Court Appeal

I moved from San Diego to Virginia a month ago. Prior to moving I sued to alleged creditors in Small Claims court and won both cases. Both parties have appealed, probably because they know I am no longer in the state. Do I have to appear again? Is there another way I can re-present my case without the expense of an attorney or plane fare?

Re: Small Claims Court Appeal

As you may know, the Appeal is a new trial with a Superior Court Judge, in which attorney's are able to represent their clients. However, attorney's may not give testimony, therefore if your testimony is required, then you will have to appear. You may consider that as you are probably going to need an attorney to collect on your judgments if you previal at the appeal anyway, then you may as well get an attorney for the appleal.
