Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

Small Claims, I think

I have a daughter in CA. I live in NC. My daughter's mother brought the child to NC to meet me for the first time back in March. The visit was supposed to be for four days. I agreed to pay for the child's plane ticket of $337. I gave the mother $200 when she arrived and agreed the pay the rest later. The mother and I got in an argument while she was here and left without notice two days early, not even giving me a chance to say goodbye to the child. I don't feel that I should be responsible for paying the rest because I was robbed of two days with my daughter.

Can the mother take me to small claims court in CA to get the $137? If so, do I have to pay it? Is there anything I can do to disbute the amount being as that I was promised four days and only got two? Thanks!

Re: Small Claims, I think

She can sue you, but she can't serve you. California only requires service of small claims court documents in California. Therefore, I dont think you have to worry too much about this.
