I have a smallm retirement and social security. What will happen if I just stop paying my credit card bills?

It depends upon the type of retirement vehicle you have. If it is a qualified plan, it may be exempt from levy by the creditors. If, however, it is not, it may be capable of being levied (taken) by your creditors after they file a lawsuit. Also, once the distribution is made from the pension, they can levy the bank account in which it is held. You need to discuss this with an attorney as there are a lot of other assets which may be capable of levy by the creditors once they have a money judgment against you.
