Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

special provision for judgement

Can I request that the judge make a special provision for the debtor in a judgement which would require him to contact me at least once every 6 months and show proof, so that I dont have to chase him all around the world to get my money?

Re: special provision for judgement

You can put just about anything you want in a stipulated judgment, but only if its agreed upon by the other party, and even then requiring someone to do something (aside from a money judgment) might be subject to attack at a later date. If you obtain the judgment by default or after a trial, then the judge will only give you the relief you requested in the complaint. That is generally only a money award. Post-judgment, you can serve the debtor with a judgment debtor examination, which will force him to come to court and answer questions about where his money is, what he owns, etc... but you have to serve him, which means chasing him. There isn't much more a judge can do to make it easier for you to collect your judgment - you will have to do a lot of leg work.
