statue of limitation on credit card debt

have 2 questions...had a credit card in the mid 90's that i did not pay off. they just now started garnishing wages from my payroll check (june 2008). what is the statue of limitations for them to garnish wages? also, isn't the payroll dept of my employer supposed to contact me BEFORE they start to garnish wages?

Re: statue of limitation on credit card debt

You would have to be served with a lawsuit and lose the lawsuit first before your wages could be garnished. If you had no notice of the lawsuit, contact me.
