Re: Statue of Limitations

For a debt based on a written contract (which would include any credit card debt and any loan by an institutional lender), the statute of limitations is 4 years.

For a verbal contract, it is 2 years.

The statute starts running from the time of the last transaction, meaning the later of whenever the last money was lent or the last payment was made.

If you borrowed the money in California, the California statute of limitations would probably apply regardless of where you live now.
