Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

Statue of Limitiations for 'purchased' debt

Does the statue of limitations begin anew when an 'old debt' (i.e: more then 4 years old) is sold to a third party? Does this mean until a debt is resolved, it can keep being sold to other agencies who can then file a new ''notice of deliquency'' on your credit thus damaging it forever?

The statute of limitations does not extend when a debt is purchased. When was the last payment made? Did you get any letter from a collection agency. We would have to review it and can help you. Please call us if you have any questions.
