Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California
statute of limitations on credit card debt
I have a credit card that i stopped making payments on in 2002. When i checked my credit report this year, 2009, it stated that i opened the credit card 08/2008. Does the statute of limitations also apply to your credit report? If so, does that mean it has to be removed? Can the statue of limitations be extended if the account is sold to a collection agency? Does the statue of limitations start on the date of your last payment? I wish to improve my credit report and basically wanted to know the answer to these questions.

Re: statute of limitations on credit card debt
Have you received any correspondence from a collection agency. There may be a FDCA violation. The statute of limitations is not extended if the debt is sold.
