Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

Statute of Limitations

I have a past due bill that didn't get paid off with all the rest that I put into a consumer credit consolidation account. We missed this one as I had not recieved a bill from them in over 5 years. I applied for credit and found out that was just placed on my credit report. I have not paid them anything in the last 5 years and they have not billed me (I had moved but everyone else billed me).

They want to make a settlement, the original bill was about 600 the current bill

with charges is 1200, they will settle for 600. What should I do? Is it past the statute of limitations?

I am a little resentful about the bills anyway, they were medical for my ex wife.
