Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

Statute of Limitations for reimbursement for loss

I was involved in an auto accident 1 year and 3 months ago. I was at fault and did not have liability coverage at the time. The other motorist has the "Uninsured Motorist Clause" therefore her insurance company paid her medical and property damage bills.

A little before 1 year after the accident, I received a notice from her insurance company stating that they wanted reimbursement from me for these bills. I received this notice 2 times but did not sign or return it. It has now been over a year since the accident, and from what I understand there is a 1 year statute of limitations in the state of California in which someone can be sued for loss. Now does this apply only to medical, property damage or what? Since it has been over a year, can the insurance company still legally look to me for reimbursement?

Any clarification would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Re: Statute of Limitations

They have 3 years from the date they paid the money to their insured to file a lawsuit.
