Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

Hello my name is Steve, i've recently been through some tough times financially and unfortunately had my all terrain vehicle (quad) reposessed in June when i was on vacation. Is this legal? The vehicle was in a locked garaged which means they had to break in to get it out. Anything will help at this point.

They are not permitted to enter your home without authorization from an occupant.
