Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California
stopping bank garnishing
I lost a case from a collection company for a credit card debt in court and so it gave judgement because of how i missed some proccedures. How can I protect myself from bank garnishment. I heard someone say I could get an exemption what ever that is. Also can I still appael to this judges decision? I told the judge I never got served but she said she did not want to waste time and bring in the servicing company. Truth is I never got serve but I did receive the notice to appear in court. any advice please.

Re: stopping bank garnishing
You file a motion for reconsideration and produce any new evidence to prove you were never served, such as a credit card statement that show's you were out of the area at the time of service. You could also appeal, but that could get very expensive.
