Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

I wish to sue a debt collection agency, I.C. System Inc....their headquarters is in Minnesota but they are licensed to do business in California. The state licensing office shows they are licensed in California but there is no address in California for service of process. I also checked the Secretary of State's office. I contacted them directly but they will not tell me this information. How can I get their address for service of process in California if none is listed with the state banking department and they will not tell me? Thanks!

There is no reason you cannot serve them in Minnesota. Just because a case is in California doesn't mean you have to serve the defendant in California. Use whatever address the CA licensing authority has, wherever it is.

You may be able to serve this agency by mail, using the procedure set forth in Code of Civil Procedure Section 415.40.

I strongly suggest you hire a lawyer to represent you. This is a simple question -- and harder questions will undoubtedly appear in your case. Indeed, you risk losing the case (and paying the other side certain costs) simply be being outsmarted in the litigation process by a competent opposing counsel.
