Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California
How do I sue?
I entered into a contract with a company who was
to make a musical instrument for me by February
27. They have not, and haven't communicated
with me since January 23. I have given them half
the amount up front and was to pay the rest when
I received the instrument. Their unwilligness to
communicate implies their fraud, and I and three
others would like to sue after exhausting many
other options. How do we do this? Do we need
to be present, or do I need to travel down from
Alaska? Can we get the proper forms on line?

Re: How do I sue?
Depending on the circumstances, it may be possible to persuade an Alaska court to take jurisdiction under our "long arm" statute. A lot depends on the nature and extent of the defendant's contacts with the state and/or its residents.
The other choice would be to contact the courts in a state where the defendant lives or does business, and persue the case long distance, hopefully through some type of simplified small claims procedure.
Sorry to be so brief, but a more specific answer would require more specific facts.
