Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

can I be sued by a bankruptcy lawyer for deciding not to give my case to him rig

I call my bankruptcy lawyer two hours after I had signed a contract to cancell it. But he said if I don't pay him the whole amount he will sue me and get his money back. But I haven't given any information about the credit cards or money I owed, the only info. is my social number and calif. drivers license number, but he never give me options other than bankruptcy but I never pay attention to the document I signed due to the stress I am going throught right now. Can I be liable for the the half hour I spent while I signed the contract to hire him even though he said it was a free consultation but he said that I needed to signed it so I could hold the cuote.

a lot depends on the wording of the contract and whether any work was done before it was canceled. Generally, the State Bar frowns on attorneys collecting ANY fees over and above what was actually earned.
