Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

Being sued by capitol one

I am being sued by a lawyer representing capitol one. I called and worked out a payment arrangement but for 4 times what I originally charged. Should I still file an answer with the court? This lawyer told me not to that it would only cost me more money in the end. What should I do I worry that they are lying. I also gave him my bank account info to make my first payment. He seemed nice but I am not sure if I should trust them. help.

Never take advice from other people's lawyers!!!! And you gave them your bank account number ??!!!!!!! After you've changed bank account numbers, call a lawyer near you. You should also not have agreed to any payment plan before speaking with a lawyer. You may have defenses to the lawsuit.

This situation is now beyond what you can reasonably handle yourself. I don't know why you gave him your bank account information, but that was extremely unwise. Get a lawyer to take this matter over ASAP.

Be cautious, get their promises in writing.

If you do not answer, they can get default judgment.
