Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California
I am being sued by CC Co.
I have recieved a summons recently by an old creditor. I tried contacting the lawyer for the creditor but he said he would settle out of court for 1500-had only two months to pay this-I cant make those kinds of payments in two months-I need more time-he said that otherwise I would have to take it to court and let the judge settle it-I am willing to settle out of court-but again cant afford to pay in two months. I dont want to take it to court, I will then owe more than 1500 if I do....I am wondering what my options are here- I have 3 weeks left to file ...but I really want to settle this out of court and get them to extend the payment arrangements...thanks

You should have a lawyer review the documents to see if the lawsuit was filed properly, if the statute of limitations ran, or if there are violations of the FDCPA. You can read more about this at my blog, www.californiadebtblog.com
