Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

I'm being sued by a collection agency for $2,500, who has not acted in good faith towards me. In fact they have broken the harrassment laws of collection.

They have many discrepencies I feel that is going against them most notably the harrassment area.

Another area of concern by me is their changing the amount they want each time they notified me every 2 to 3 months over the last two years. They seem to be shady

Should I represent myself in all this?

Robert F. Cohen Law Office of Robert F. Cohen

Interest adds on to amounts owed at the rate to which you agreed (now probably over 20% annually since you apparently defaulted). You can cross-complain if you have evidence that the collection agency violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act or other consumer-protection laws.

The choice is yours whether to represent yourself. You will be held to the same standards of knowing all of the laws and rules of court as are lawyers, and some judges seem to get a bit impatient with statements to the contrary.
