Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

being sued by collection company

My wife and I moved to CA about a year ago and we (or she) is now being threatend with being taken to court for an old credit card debt. My questions is can they do this even if the debt is from when we lived in TX? I believe we are still in the 4 year limitation period but not positive.

Thanks

Moving to a different state does not change that fact that you owe the money if you borrowed it to make purchase. Wo yes, the credito card company can sue if the statute of limitatins has not expired. Under the federal FAir Debt Collection Practices Act, the creditor is REQUIRED to file suit in California.
