Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California
I'm being sued for a credit card of $5500+, but I'm filing for bankruptcy. How does a bankruptcy fall into play and will the bankruptcy be considered so my wages aren't garnished?

Bankruptcy-filing "stays" or stops credit-card-debt garnishments. You will need to retain counsel and ensure that you file correctly, and successfully complete the case. Your attorney should advise of any issues that may impact the discharge of this debt.

Assuming your bankruptcy is handled correctly it will instantly stop the lawsuit and prevent any garnishment.
