Being sued for a debt
A telephone bill went into collection over 4 years ago, i recently found out that i have been summoned to go to court, and i have 30 days to respond. What are my options?

The legal time limit is four years from the last time your bill was due to the date the lawsuit was filed. The expiration of the four-year limit will win your lawsuit, but it doesn't happen automatically. Also, if you made a payment or a promise to pay the time clock is reset and starts anew. You must file a response to the lawsuit within 30 days, or you will lose by default. Please do not attempt to respond without consulting a lawyer. I defend out-of-time lawsuits like this one for a very reasonable fixed fee which is often refunded at the end of the case, please feel free to call me for a free consultation.

File an answer saying that the debt is past the statute of limitations [if you haven't paid anything in the past 4 years and it wasn't filed before that]... or paying the bill might be an option. Then they will likely dismiss the suit.
