Can I be sued and a judgement placed against me for an old credit card bill which is over 10 years old and has been charged off by the credit card company?

No. If you are really being sued, or threatened with suit, over a 10 year old debt, do not attempt to defend it yourself. Whatever you do, do not make a payment or a promise to pay. I would very much like to hear from you.

You can be sued (anyone can be sued and does not mean they can win) and your defense would be the statute of limitations since the bank has to sue you within four years of your having defaulted on the debt. You should consult with an attorney that handles violations consumer protection statutes since such a suit on a debt more than four years old may allow you to obtain damages and be paid your attorneys' fees and costs.
