Summons served to former employer

Summons served to collect on credit card debt was given to my former employer. I have not been served.

Why would anyone else be served other than me or another member of my household? What options do I have?

Reviewing my records, I belive the SOL has expired.

It is very common to try to serve someone at work. Chances are that the thought you still lived there.

Even if they don't have valid service, there is nothing to prevent from filing a proof of service and obtaining a default judgment against you. If you want to fight the lawsuit, you have only a limited amount of time to file proper paperwork with the court.

Altough you can try to do this yourself, an attorney can advise you how to properly fill out th paperwork and what defenses to raise. I am in San Diego, but I litigate all over the if you need assistance.
