Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California
I am supposed to be at a case management hearing tomorrow morning and the plaintiff and I have agreed upon a repayment plan. I just got the papework back to them today and now I need to know if I need to show up at this hearing.

I would suggest that you appear and inform the Judge of the settlement. I would also advise you to have an attorney review the settlement and repayment plan. Often debt collection attorneys require you to stipulate to a judgment, which is exactly what you want to avoid.

Yes, you should still attend and inform the court that the case might be settled. Otherwise, the plaintiff's attorney could pull something in court to get a default judgment against you down the line without your knowledge. I've seen it happen. As part of a settlement, usually there is an agreement for plaintiff to file a request for dismissal of the case.
