Time of Deficiency of repossessed vehicle

Hi, My truck was repossessed on feb 28th 03, I recieved a letter from the finance company that they will sell the truck at private auction on march 15th, I did not recieve any more letters or phone calls in regards to the sale of the vehicle until today june 11th 03, the letter explains they sold the truck on may 27th and the balance due, My question is ?. can they take there time like this,is there a time limit of the sale and then to notify me of the balance, someone told me 60 days, is this true, have the made a mistake, please help, i cannot afford an attorney

They have a much harder time collecting a deficiency of a "private" sale, and, in fact, may not be entitled to a deficiency at all.
