Help! Need to transfer huge phone bill dept to person responsible for porn calls
I took in a renter, in the latter part of 1999, who ran up the phone bill with international party line, and sex talk phone calls. I had a 900 block on the phone so he had to call 011(international) lines. I don't think I should be responsible because the phone co. had placed a security international block on the phone before. So, why didn't' the phone company stop the calls before it reached $11,000.00?
Now I am being harrassed by the phone people to pay this huge some all at once. There is no way. So my question to you, Guru, is how do I go about taking this guy to court to transfer the debt to his name? I understand that this is a transferable debt.
oh, one more note, I stopped getting a phone bill a month after he got there. I have come to think that he may have been taking the bill before I got the mail.

you cant really transfer the debt, you are still responsible to the phone co. but you can sue the roomate for the $11,000
