uncollected lien on foreclosed property

our house in california was foreclosed in 2001, our second mortgage lender was not able to collect from it and is now trying to collect from us, what are my options? please reply thanks.

The answer to this question is complex and depends on many factors, including if your second lender was the same as the first, who foreclosed, etc. The ability to answer this question cannot be answered in my opinion with the facts given. Was the 2nd trust deed placed after the 1st or was it used to finance the property. This may make a difference. Please contact our office for consultation and review of your documentation.
