Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California
I am unemployed and retired on Social Security. A university is threatening to sue me for a former student loan. If I send them a small payment every month (like $20) will that stop them from sueing me?

Did you borrow the money from a private lender or a government guaranteed lender? You may have a statute of limitations defense if it was a private lender.
You should go on internet and look for student loan ombudsman website to find out about payment plans.
If a judgment is obtained, your social security funds are exempt from execution.
