Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

unfair debt collection

My credit card company recently put me on their Debt Management Plan program, to payoff my debt. With the understanding that I was not to miss or be late on one payment. I made my fist payment with no problem. My second payment I thought I made with no problem. But someone from the credit card company typed my bank account number wrong. The next thing I know a lawyer is calling me to tell me that they had been retained to collect my debt. The credit card company said that because my bank account number was three digits off, it was an unvalid account. And because of that it was sold due to non payment. And was given 48 hours to come up with the full amount. I need to know if because I wasn't at fault can I hold the creidt card company to the agreement to pay off my debt as before in the Debt Management Plan.

Re: unfair debt collection

If it's in writing, you have an indisputable valid agreement that should not be breached.
