Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

Unpaid Bingo Win

I won a bingo for $500 on 07/04/00 on ''Bingotelevision'' and have not gotten my money. Games were broadcast both on cable tv and over the internet by Triangle Multi Media., Inc. in Palm Springs, CA and sponsored by Mobil Oil (my cards were picked up at a Mobil service station) and Blockbuster Video. Their website is still active and says that they will be back on the air in 09/01. My questions are: 1. I assume since this is for $500 that I would suit them in small claims court? 2. I live in San Luis Obispo, CA which is about 280 miles from Palm Springs. Can I file suit in my town or does it have to be in Palm Springs and if so, is there any way to file suit thru the mail and maybe just have to make one trip to Palm Springs for a hearing? 3. How much does it cost to file a small claims suit and then does the loser have to pay the filing fee? 4. Do I have any recourse with Mobil Oil or Blockbuster Video? (Should I try to get my money from them before I sue?) 5. Any additional advice or information you can give me to help me get my $500.

Thank You,
