Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

vehicle repo in CA

I had a dirt bike repo 5 years ago, and recently a collection agency has started calling a threating to sue my and garnish wages. Can they do that......what is the statute of limitations in CA for collecting on repo'd vehicles?

The statute of limitation for breach of a written agreement is 4 years from the breach or the last payment, whichever is later.

If it's more than 4 years, as you suggest, they cannot collect a dime. Have an attorney send them a letter telling them to leave you alone, or you'll sue them under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act for its violation.
