Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California
Veteran debt statute of limitation.
My home of record (resident) has always been California but was stationed in WA and have since left the military now been back in my state (California) for a number of years. During my time in WA, I incurred a cable bill debt (2002) and am wondering how my SOL is figured out for me, Ca or Wa?
Also, what is a cable bill considered (an open account)?
Thank you in advance.

The Statute of Limitations depends on where the contract was entered into or where the lawsuit is brought in some cases. Did you receive a collection letter? Was the collection letter mailed to you in California? If so, there is a 4 year statute of limitations. Please call me if you have any questions.
Re: Veteran debt statute of limitation.
The statute of limitation applied is that of the state in which the debt was occurred -- in your case, Washington State.
It can be considered both a contract and/or an open book account for services rendered.

Washington law will apply to debts incurred in Washington. Further information may be obtained from a Washington lawyer if you repost, listing the state as 'Washington.'
