Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California
I was given a wage garnishment today at work from our county tax collectors office. It is regarding attorneys fees from September 2003. A child advocate attorney was assigned my kids during a nasty divorce. He met with me one time and I later heard our county stopped the program. There was no court time and He asked if we could meet informally. Now my employeer recieved this garnishment. The paperwork states "That failuer to pay may result in a collection and/or Order to show cause in re: contempt being instituted against liable party. The additional paperwork my employer recieved states that it is "child support" The orginal amount they state is $375.00 Now it's $722.00 What can I do to stop this?

There are exemptions from enforcement of judgments, but basically, you are stuck.
You do not understand your situation. Your understanding is so poor that you have not been able to give us a question that even makes any sense. It is highly unlikely that the child advocate has much if anything to do with this wage garnishment. And even if it does, you have not given enough information for us to make the connection. Call an attorney in person who will be able to sort this out for you. You will not be able to get help with this situation over the internet.
It will cost you more to seek the legal help you need than to just pay it as soon as posdible before it gets bigger.
