Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California
wage garnishment
my wages have been withheld for 3 paychecks now and I'm going to an exemption hearing to have the amount reduced to 100.00a paycheck instead of 380.00 now withheld. It's a 2700.00 judgment aganist me but I can't afford to pay my rent with 380.00 taken out every payday. Also once the judgment is satisfied, what do I do? They have filed liens with county recorder and withheld my wages after I agreed to make payments on judgment.

Re: wage garnishment
That's pretty nasty if you reached an agreement to pay voluntarily. In any case, once the judgment is satisfied, they should file a satisfaction of judgment with the court and provide you with a notarized satisfaction for you to file with the county recorder.
