Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

My ex will not pay me back.

I am new to handling finances and my boyfriend at the time said he would help me out. He said he would build my credit and opened up several credit card accounts in my name. I wasn't aware that he put himself on the cards also. I have been giving him money for rent and utilities and found out that I am delinquent on pretty much everything and he has left me with over 3,000 dollars in debt. I don't know what he has been using the money for. He has also been taking money out of my account. How do I state my case and explain that, yes he had access to my account but I didn't authorize everything that he has done? Can this be identity fraud or should I take him to small claims court?

Call the police. If they won't do anything, go to small claims court.
